84 STEPS
84 STEPS es una exposición que ocupa toda una planta del Kunstinstituut Melly. La iniciativa presenta proyectos en el cruce entre arte y educación. La transformación de una galería de paredes blancas en un espacio dinámico para la socialización del arte es parte del cambio de imagen de la galería de la planta baja, MELLY, que tuvo lugar en 2018. El nombre -84 STEPS- indica la distancia entre la planta baja y las galerías de la tercera planta, donde se ubica la iniciativa. 84 STEPS presenta instalaciones artísticas inmersivas de Afra Eisma, The Feminist Health Care Research Group (Inga Zimprich), Moosje M Goosen y Daily Practice (Suzanne Weenink), Raja’a Khalid, Lisa Tan, Domenico Mangano & Marieke van Rooy, y Romily Alice Walden. La programación de estas instalaciones, que se desarrollará a lo largo de un año, prestará especial atención a los temas relacionados con la salud mental. ¡El programa inaugural es MINDSCAPES, una conferencia en línea coorganizada con SICK! en Manchester, los días 22 y 23 de abril de 2021.
Kunstinstituut Melly es el nuevo nombre de la institución antes conocida como Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art. Concebida como una casa de arte en Rotterdam, la misión del Kunstinstituut Melly es presentar y discutir el trabajo creado por artistas visuales locales y de otros territorios. La exposición 84 STEPS ha sido dirigida por Sofia Hernández Chong Cuy y De Graaf, y programada con Veronika Babayan, Jessy Koeiman, Emmelie Mijs, Aqueene Wilson y Vivian Ziherl; está organizada por Wendy van Slagmaat-Bos.
