I Am in Love with the Coco
Born in 1982 in Rio de Janeiro, Christian Rosa studied from 2007 to 2012 in Vienna at the Academy of Fine Arts in the class of Daniel Richter painting. He lives and works in Los Angeles.
His images show a minimalist, this cheerful and clearly acting settlements on untreated canvas. The color is managed as a line, they can be used to track or condense in squiggles and surfaces. This squares stand next to points sometimes isolated on the canvas or are connected by lines. Call sometimes associations with faces or figures on. Astonishing is the effect that set reminders to painters such as Juan Miró; but this can not hold, because Christian Rosa follows completely different laws, namely «a scheme of error. Each approach is exacerbated towards unsustainability, the disinformation and interference in the field, to the incorrect handling of an instruction – the worst ‘, as he himself says. This risk is material for the pictures», Roberto Ohrt writes in a catalog contribution to the work of Christian Rosa.
It is, as so often shows in the history of painting, the quality of artistic work in the reduction of the funds and their complex and precise application. That, and the attractiveness of the works may be responsible for ensuring that work of Christian Rosa found already in large numbers worldwide input in important private collections.
The Kunstverein Heilbronn is pleased to present the painting of this unusual young artist for the first time in an institutional exhibition in Germany.
