The names of homicide victims in headlines are as transient as letters in the sand, waiting to be washed away and replaced by the next high tide. How do we keep ourselves from growing accustomed to such endless waves of violence? Teresa Margolles, whose work is steeped in the violence of her home country and beyond, researched and rinsed the crime scenes of a hundred homicides that took place on public streets. The water used was bottled and labeled with the names of the victims.
